FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. 14 (UPI) — Former NBA point guard Kenny Anderson has been charged in Florida with leaving the scene of an accident.
The charge is a misdemeanor, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Police in Broward County say Anderson walked away Sunday after hitting two trees with his Cadillac Escalade.
Anderson has not been charged with drunken driving, although police said he had clearly been drinking when he was tracked down at his home in Pembroke Pines. He allegedly admitted being at a bar before the crash.
He said a tire blew out on his car, causing him to lose control. Investigators said all four tires had blown out and the rims were bent.
After playing two seasons at Georgia Tech, Anderson joined the New Jersey Nets, where he played for five years. He went on to play for eight more teams in his remaining decade as a pro.
He now coaches high school basketball in Florida
